On Tuesday evening, 18 February, Eaton Community Library hosted acclaimed West Australian author Steve Hawke.
The son of former Prime Minister, Bob Hawke, discussed his life and work in what was an insightful and often lively presentation. Steve’s most recent novel, Out of Time, was central to his discussion. Dedicated to his mother, Hazel, the novel is a deeply personal examination of a life turned upside down by Alzheimers looking at the topical themes of assisted care and euthanasia. Steve also read passages from his novels and described his process of writing and developing characters and stories.
Following the discussion, the audience engaged in a Q&A where the author elaborated on some of his previous work and also an interesting discussion about how and why he writes. Attendees then stayed on for drinks and refreshments as they met with Steve for further conversation and a book signing.
We are incredibly grateful to all who attended for helping to make it such a wonderful evening and would like to thank Steve Hawke for making himself available.
